AI & content policy
How machine assistance is used in our newsroom — and the limits placed on it.
Where AI is used
- Monitoring and triaging source feeds for relevance to our coverage areas.
- Drafting summaries and reports from cited source material.
- Assisting with verification checks, sentiment classification and metadata.
- Producing clearly labelled illustrations where no licensed photograph is available.
Where AI is never used
- Inventing quotes, statistics, events, sources or attributions.
- Reproducing source text verbatim in place of original writing.
- Rewriting unfavourable facts to make a story read more positively.
- Publishing anything that fails our verification threshold.
Disclosure
Reports drafted with AI assistance carry a visible disclosure on the article page, alongside their source list. Illustrations that were machine-generated are labelled in the image caption and are never presented as documentary photographs of a real event.
Accountability
Automation does not remove editorial responsibility. Petro Stream Trading stands behind every published report, and editors can hold, amend or withdraw any story.
