Alkagesta Joins SUISSENÉGOCE's 20th Anniversary Celebration in Geneva
Alkagesta was represented by CEO Orkhan Rustamov and CFO Orkhan Zeynalli at the Swiss Commodity Trading Association's milestone anniversary in Geneva, underscoring the Malta-based trader's continued engagement with Switzerland's commodity community.

Alkagesta, the Malta-headquartered global commodity trading company, took part in the 20th anniversary celebration of SUISSENÉGOCE, the Swiss Commodity Trading Association. The event was held under the big top of Circus Knie in Geneva and brought together trading houses, service providers and industry figures from across the Swiss commodity ecosystem.
The company was represented by Orkhan Rustamov, Chief Executive Officer, and Orkhan Zeynalli, Chief Financial Officer. Their attendance signals Alkagesta's sustained interest in the institutions that shape Switzerland's role as a global commodity trading hub.
Two decades of sector representation
SUISSENÉGOCE President Nicolas Matter and Secretary General Florence Schurch opened the evening. Matter traced the association's origins to founders Geert Descheemaeker and Jacques-Olivier Thomann, who saw the value in Swiss commodity trading companies working together on shared challenges. What began as a small coordinating effort has grown into a recognised voice for the sector, Matter told guests.
Schurch reviewed the association's work over the past twenty years, including representing the sector, supporting professional education, engaging with policymakers and strengthening Switzerland's standing as a centre for commodity trading. She also emphasised the wider network of banks, insurers, logistics specialists, inspection and certification firms, legal experts, educators, recruiters and consultants that supports the industry alongside its trading companies.
An evening in Geneva
Following the formal remarks, guests watched a performance by the artists of Circus Knie. The celebration then continued at the Cercle des Bains in Geneva, giving attendees an opportunity to continue discussions in an informal setting.
Alkagesta's presence at the event reflects its broader engagement strategy across Europe. The company is active in petroleum products, fertilizers, biofuels and steel in more than 48 countries, and has regularly participated in industry gatherings that connect traders, regulators and service providers.
